 BASIC DESCRIPTION

Two-day course Sat 9:00-4:00 and Sunday 9-4:00.

  • For anyone wanting to climb or access a tree canopy for various reasons such as pleasure, fun, adventure, photography, research, certified arborists earn 8 CEU'S !
  • Teaching double rope technique(DREC)
  • Getting access into the canopy
  • Teaching movement within the canopy
  • Basic Pruning Techniques
  • Safety rules
  • Shout calls
  • You will learn to tie knots, repeating each knot many times to instill *muscle memory*.  
  • guidelines to respect and care for the trees you climb.  
  • Upon satisfactory completion of solo climb and written test, student will be provided with EJ certificate.

This class also provides opportunities for future climbs with EarthJoy and Northern Ky/Greater Cincinnati tree climbers as continual learning and review for Free (sometime public parks admittance and ins min 10.00) 

  • Basic Course is not for teaching others to climb. We strongly adhere to learning from qualified instructors and give the same courtesy to others wanting to learn.

Class ratio is no more than  2.5:1

We recommend students not buy equipment until after class. You will be given the opportunity to try various saddle types and different ropes. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of all the equipment.
