 | | | As a child I remember I went to the woods to feel safe. It was timeless, and no matter what was going on in our lives the forest understood and accepted us. We could totally be ourselves. I would lead neighborhood kids, my sister and brother through long explorations of country woods, miles of bike trips on backroads, fishing expeditions at every creekbed, and walking across beams in barns that were 30-40 feet from the ground. We were always creating new and exciting adventures to do everyday!! We felt free to be ourselves and forget about our problems!
My parents married young. I remember they would come to me for answers. This is when I felt important and most loved, taking care of others. I entered college seeking a career in the helping profession and became a Licensed Physical Therapist. I had my daughter at 27 and wanted to spend more time with her. My best friend and I created ADVANCED PT to provide us more freedom of scheduling and to do things we loved.
I always ached to be a traveler and explorer! Backpacking Alaska, hiking the grand canyon and parts of the Appalachian. I married in 2000 to my husband with three daughters. I have always fought my natural tendicies to be a gysie with family obligation. I felt trapped. Not knowing how to live my purpose.
I signed up for serious coaching and discovered my truest values, talents, and deeper purpose. To express my needs, create emotional safety, and to connect people to nature so that they can discover and pursue their greatest dreams.
I was blaming other people and my marriage for not pursuing this dream. I was having a difficult time communicating my deepest desires to the people closest to me. I found myself arguing to defend myself and what I wanted. I finally learned that what I value in life just needs to be expressed
While on a family rafting trip in West Virginia, I was in the cabin, leafing through a magazine when I saw a picture of Genevieve, peacefully sitting in the branch of a tree.DANCING WITH TREES

My heart soared because I knew I would learn this technique and share it with others. At the time I was gaining clarity on my purpose. I already had an established business as co-owner of Physical Therapy. I am proud of this company and that I am a Licensed PT. But, I wanted to play bigger and find a way to combine being in nature and being physical. I was going through what I call low grade depression.
. I said to my husband (lovingly), "I'm going to GA to learn tree climbing with or without you." Well the rest is history. He went with me and loves it too!
We learned with Abe Winters of Tree Climbing USA. Over a course of three years we qualified as facilitators/instructors.
That is what EarthJoy is all about. We design, fun, exciting and different playground adventures in a safe environment where you can feel Empowered and leave with a Rejuvenated Heart !! The trees naturally take away the negative thoughts of your mind and lead you into your heart. An environment is created where you can totally be yourself!!
We have climbable trees all over Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and offer guided lightweight backpacking trips.
So now I have the best of two worlds. I co-own Advanced Physical Therapy and EarthJoy. I use my strong PT background to assist people that my have physical difficulties to safely climb trees.
See you in the TREES!!
